Think big and be bold - our first marketing employee

Meet #piloteer Theresa Heiss, not only our first employee in marketing, but also our earliest early bird.

Theresa Heiss has been part of the crew for a year, is an absolute bundle of energy and played a major part in building up the marketing department. She is excited about the transformation from start-up to scale-up and about taking the next bold steps together.  


How did you first hear about MARKT-PILOT?

I got to know MARKT-PILOT through my former - and also current - colleague Stefan Deuschle. Stefan has been with MARKT-PILOT since the very beginning and told me about the company when he switched jobs. In fact, I took a look at the homepage and the vacancies the start-up offered that very same day - and basically I was instantly sold on the idea.

What did you do before joining MARKT-PILOT Before joining MARKT-PILOT?

I worked for a machine manufacturer in Nürtingen as an Online Marketing Manager where my main focus was marketing automation and online marketing. I was familiar with the machine manufacturing industry and already knew our target audience.

Why did you make the switch to MARKT-PILOT?

I was absolutely impressed by the mindset and the passion. I was the first to join the marketing team and found it really exciting to be given the opportunity to contribute to developing an entire department. During the interviews, I realized pretty quickly that MARKT-PILOT offered just what I needed. For me, that meant new challenges that I can grow from, as well as working towards a major goal as a team -  it was a perfect match from the very beginning. And that first impression was soon confirmed in practice. I'm super happy with my decision to join MARKT-PILOT and have continued to be since April 2022.

How do you start your day?

My day usually starts pretty early - I'm definitely an early bird and love to be in the office in the morning to start my day in calm. As a regular coffee drinker I can't do without my Flat White. When working from home I usually do yoga or go to the gym before I start work.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

What I love about my job is the mix of creative and more technical tasks - on the one hand I'm doing content and creating campaigns for social media and events, and on the other hand managing our homepage and marketing automation.

What are your biggest learnings so far?

I was able to develop in many ways - both professionally and personally. With HubSpot, I've definitely expanded my skills in Marketing Automation, and the topics in the areas of content and events have also allowed me to become familiar with the product. I think that I have definitely accomplished that. One of my most important learnings is to think big and be bold. Not everything always works out straight from the start, and I have learned to accept feedback and demand it actively in order to achieve the best possible outcome and added value for the entire MARKT-PILOT team in the end.

Which of the MARKT-PILOT values is the most important to you and why?

For me, showing empathie, respect and appreciation plays a significant part. In addition, I believe that the team spirit, teamwork and solidarity are unique. In my opinion, these are definitely aspects that should not be taken for granted and that make us special. At MARKT-PILOT everyone pulls together towards a common goal and keeps pushing in the same direction. That's remarkable and it continues to inspire me every day.

How would you describe the team culture at MARKT-PILOT?

The spirit at MARKT-PILOT is quite unique :-) We treat each other with respect and provide mutual support. There is no "I" only a "we". That is how we learn something new every day, keep on developing and create the best output we can.

What's your favorite thing about working at a tech scale-up?

The Hands-On mentality and being a part of an incredibly exciting corporate journey - actively contributing to shaping it. :-)

What would you like to tell someone who is thinking about joining the MARKT-PILOT team?

I would recommend working at MARKT-PILOT to anyone who is up for a challenge and wants to proactively contribute to the growth of the company. Everyone can develop individually and is given the chance to grow. We place great value on our feedback policy and address issues directly and openly.
